Archaeology of the bronze age, Hellenistic, and Roman remains at an ancient town on the Euphrates River; 2v

Holland (Oriental Institute of the U. of Chicago) present the final report from his Oriental Institute concerning the archaeological and landscape investigations at the Bronze Age settlement of Tell es- Sewyhat, Syria, located on the upper Euphrates Rive at the northern end of the present Lake Assad, and includes material from excavations dating between 1973 and 1992. The material is presented in two parts, the first contains textual materials reporting on soundings and excavation in the lower town and its defensive rampart, excavations in the inner town, pottery assemblages, small finds, potters’ marks, and incised pottery. The second part, a separate volume, contains all the graphic materials, including 340 plates and 335 figures illustrating site plans and, primarily, pottery and pottery shard finds. Three removable foldout maps of the site are also included. Distributed in North America by The David Brown Book Co.
