Commerce sets dumping margin on chromium imports from Japan
October 10, 2007 – 7:07 amIn the final determination of an anti-dumping case, the Commerce Department set a dumping margin of 129.32 percent for imports from JFE Material Co. Ltd., Shinminato, Japan, and other Japanese suppliers, according to the Federal Register.
The anti-dumping case was filed by Eramet Marietta Inc., Marietta, Ohio, and the Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers International union, which represents workers at Eramet Marietta. The case now heads back to the U.S. International Trade Commission, which will make a final determination on whether the imports have harmed the domestic industry.
Meanwhile, the Commerce Department has instructed the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection to continue to suspend liquidation of all imports of degassed chromium from Japan, or withdrawn from warehouses, for consumption on or after Aug. 18.
